Abstrak

The purpose of this study is to describe the increase of motivation at fift grade students in asking questions, answering questions, and pay attention to the teacher. Learning model used in this study is Student Facilitator and Explaining model. Student Facilitator and Explaining model is a model of learning in which students present ideas or opinions to other students. Based on the results of the study in the first cycle and second cycle, it can be seen an increase in student motivation in asking the question is from 35.29% to 70.58%, the motivation of students to answer questions from 58.82% to 82.35%, and the motivation of students in pay attention to the teacher, from 67.64% to 88.23%. With the increase of student’s motivation to learn science impact on learning outcomes, with an increase in the percentage of completeness is 52.94% in the first cycle to 76.47% in the second cycle. From the results obtained in this study it can be concluded that learning science using Student Facilitator and Explaining model can improve motivation and learning outcomes in science at fifth grade students at state elementary school 20 Kurao Pagang Padang. Based on these results, the researchers suggest that teachers can use Student Facilitator and Explaining model to increase student motivation and learning outcomes.
