Abstrak

This research is motivated by the low achievement of students in the fourth grade social studies lesson SDN 01 Mount Tuleh, West Pasaman. Student learning outcomes at the low mark with the results of the first semester of academic year exams 2012/2013 only 37% of students who pass. One way that can be used to overcome this problem is to use the approach of Science Technology Society. Formulation of the problem of this research how improving student learning outcomes in the fourth grade social studies learning by using the approach of Science Technology Society. While the purpose of this study is to describe the improvement of student learning outcomes in the fourth grade social studies learning by using the approach of Science Technology Society. This research is a classroom action research undertaken collaboratively. Subjects of this study were fourth grade students of SDN 01 Mount Tuleh, totaling 19 people. The research instrument used in this study is the observation sheet affective student, teacher observation sheet activity and achievement test. Based on the analysis of student observation sheet affective domain in the learning process of social studies learning outcomes obtained in the first cycle with an average 57.36% increase in cycle II with an average of 78.28%. While the results of the students' cognitive learning is in the first cycle with an average of 64.63, an increase in cycle II with an average of 81.84. So it can be inferred by using the approach of Science Technology Society in social studies learning can improve student learning outcomes.
