Abstrak

Implementation of learning mathematics in class VIII SMPN 3 Rambatan is dominated by the teacher, so that the interaction between teachers and students or students with students is rare. This adversely affects the students mathematics learning outcomes. One way to overcome this problem is to implement Active Learning Strategies with The Power of Two Type of learning mathematics in class VIII SMPN 3 Rambatan. The purpose of this study is to determine how the activity of students and whether students mathematics learning outcomes improved over the type of implement Active Learning Strategies The Power of Two on the students concerned . This type of research is experimental. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMPN 3 Rambatan which consists of four classes. Sampling was done by simple random sampling technique. Instruments that be used are activities and learning outcomes. Based on the analysis, indicated that mathematics learning activity of class VIII SMPN 3 Rambatan in the school year 2012/2013 generaly increase the students learning activities. While the data from two classes that learn mathematics were normally distributed and have a homogenous variance. Formula that been used for hypothesis test is t-test formula with a confidence level of 95% (α=0.05), with tcount = 1.7746 and ttable = 1.677. Because tcount> ttable, so the research hypothesis is accepted. Based Can be concluded that students mathematics learning outcomes after applying Active Learning Strategies with The Power of Two Type is better than using the conventional learning in class VIII SMP 3 Rambatan.
