Abstrak

This researchmotivated bylow interest instudyingmath, lessmotivatedstudentswhenlearning takes placeandstudentsare still notaware ofthe importance ofmath.This isknownbecausethe teacher more activethanstudentsduring the learningtakes place, and the presence ofstudentsasacreativeless attention. Tosolve the above problems, the researchersprovidea solutionby using amodel ofactive learning, creative, effective, andfun (PAKEM). This studyaims to describe theincreasing instudent’s interestin learningmathematicsinclassof SMPN 3Padangthroughactive and creative learningmodels. Typesof this researchused inthis study isClassroom Action Research (CAR). Subjectofthisresearchis classwhich consist of38students. The instrument usedin this studyisthe observation sheetstudent’s interestandachievement test. The results showedthatthe averagepercentage ofall the indicatorsstudents mathematicslearning interest44.64% in the first cycleincreased to76.44% in the second cycle. Beside thatthe averagevalueof student learning outcomesalso increasedfrom64.37in the first cycleincreased to78.18in the second cycle. From theresults ofthis studyconcludedthatstudentsinterest inlearningmathematicscan be improvedthrough the PAKEMmodel inclass ofSMPN 3Padang.
