Abstrak

The process of learning mathematics in SMP 16 Padang is still focused on teachers centered, lack of student activity, the seriousness and sincerity of students in learning mathematics and student learning outcomes is still much below the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). To solve the above problems, one attempts to do with the application of active learning strategies types The Power of Two. The purpose of this research was to determine the development of students' activities during the implementation of active learning strategies The Power of Two types of learning mathematics in class VIII SMP 16 Padang and knowing the proportion of students who achieve mastery learning mathematics applied to him the type of active learning strategies The Higher Power of Two of the proportion of students who achieve mastery learning mathematics applied conventional teaching her students in class VIII SMP 16 Padang. This type of research is experimental research. This is a research instrument observation sheet and achievement test. The results obtained during the application of active learning strategies The Power of Two types of learning activities of students has increased. Based on the results of study on the class of samples, when analyzed hypothesis testing using χ ^ 2 formula for the two samples obtained indenpeden χ2 = 6 and p = 0.0076. Therefore p <0.05 means H_o rejected and H1 is accepted, we conclude that the proportion of students who achieve mastery learning mathematics applied to him the type of active learning strategies The Power of Two is higher than the proportion of students who achieve mastery in whom conventional applied learning.
