THE CHARACTER BUILDING VALUES OF THE MAIN CHARACTER IN THE NOVEL DI TANAH LADA BY ZIGGY ZEZSYAZEOVIENNAZABRIZKIE

Abstrak

A person's character can be either positive or negative depend on character building the person gets from environment. In modern times, there are many deviations of behavior comitted by youth and adults. All of that is due to the lack of inculcation of character building in these individuals so that it is directed to bad behavior.The Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie’s Di Tanah Lada novel is a novel that displays character building values to the main character that tells a story of a little girl named Ava who tries to find a decent life away from violence of her parents. Previously, there have been several researchers who have analyzed the values of character education, they are Monica Edwar (2013), Yunisra Asiz (2016), and Asri Febriyani (2017). This study aims to describe the educational values of the main characters in the novel Di Tanah Lada by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie.                     According to Nurgiyantoro (2010), the elements that create a novel which then together form the totality in addition to the formal elements of language. However, in broad outline the various types of elements have traditionally been grouped into two parts namely, intrinsic elements and extrinsic elements. Intrinsic element is the element that creates the literary work itself. While the extrinsic element is an element that is outside the literary work. According to Hasan (2010) character is a person's personality that is formed from the results of internalization of various policies (virteus) which are believed and used as a basis for perspective, thinking, behaving and acting.                      This research is a descriptive qualitative research.The data in this study are words that can be formulated as educational values and the source of the data of this study was taken from a novel Di Tanah Lada by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie. Data collection techniques are (1) reading and understanding, (2) marking and recording, (3) and grouping. Data analysis techniques are (1) grouping the data that has been collected, (2) processing data that has been grouped by looking at the situation from the background and the flow that occurs in the figure and then linked in accordance with the values of character education, (3) interpreting the results of the analysis, (4) summarizing the results of research that has been analyzed.                      Based on data analysis and discussion found 10 character values, namely (1) honest like Ava character's attitude that is tell the truth to his mother when Ava wet her pants, (2) discipline like Ava character who always gets up early eventhough on school holidays, (3) creative as the attitude of Ava characters who can find ideas to change the subject when his mother is sad, (4) independent like Ava characters who try to bribe their own food, (5) curiosity is like the attitude of Ava characters who always find out the meaning of words that he does not know in his dictionary, (6) appreciates achievements such as the attitude of Ava characters praising the beautiful voice and guitar playing of his friend, (7) friendly / communicative like the attitude of the Ava character who is good at making his friend happy when in sadness, (8) peace-loving like the Ava character who makes others feel safe when nearby, (9) loves to read books like the attitude of Ava characters who always take time to read dictionaries and other books, (10) social care like Ava characters who always help others when in danger and difficulty. While the value of character education for which data is not found is religious, tolerance, hard work, democratic, national spirit, love of the motherland, care for the environment, and responsibility. The most dominant character education used is the value of curiosity character education.                      This research should be used as an example for the community about the values of character education and as a reference for learning for teachers in applying the values of character education to their students
