IPS is a compulsory subject given at the elementary school level. According to Elisnawati (2015:87) "Social Studies is one of the subjects given in elementary school that examines a concepts, and generalization related to social problems". In general, teachers only use conventional learning. Conventional learning meant here is an ordinary learning model and is often used by teachers in the learning process in the classroom. To overcome this problem researchers will use the Card Sort model on social studies subjects in grade III SDN 20 Kurao Pagang. Based on this, the researcher is interested in conducting experimental research with the title "The Effect of Card Sort Model on Learning Outcomes of Class III Students on Social Studies Learning at SDN 20 in Kurao Pagang Market, Padang City"
This type of research is an experimental study with the design of "posttes-only control design". The independent variable in this study is the Card Sort model, while the dependent variable is social studies learning outcomes. The population in this study were all third grade students of SDN 20 Kurao Pagang Padang in the 2019/2020 school year consisting of 2 classes. The sample in this study were class III.A students as many as 20 students and students of class III.B as many as 20 students. The technique in sampling is by total sampling. The data taken in this study is the social science learning outcomes of students in the cognitive domain obtained through the final test in an objective form.
The results showed that the average value of the experimental class was higher than the control class (the experimental class had an average value of 73.25 and the control class had an average value of 68,0.). In the statistical test the price of tcount> t (0.05; 36) (2.33> 2.02) with a level (α = 0.05) then the hypothesis H1 is accepted.
From these data it can be concluded that the Card Sort model influences the learning outcomes of class III students in social studies at SDN 20 Kurao Pagang Padang. Thus the Card Sort learning model is expected to be used in the learning process to give a better influence on student learning outcomes.
