Natural Sciences as one of the subjects in elementary school is a program to instill and develop knowledge, skills and attitudes of scientific value in students, as well as a sense of love and respect for the greatness of God Almighty. The implementation of Natural Sciences learning is the main task of science teachers that are designed based on a curriculum that aims to make students change their mindsets, attitudes and skills. Science learning is essentially a learning approach that can familiarize students individually or in groups by actively exploring, elaborating, confirming, and communicating the results, so students can find facts through experiments or practices. Develop modules using the Inquiry approach to maximize student understanding and also so that students can learn independently with the modules developed.
The research approach used in this study is the 4-D approach. With this approach consists of 4 stages of development, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate or be adapted to become a 4-P approach, namely defining, designing, developing and disseminating. However, in this study, researchers only reached the 3-D stage, due to consideration of ability, time and cost.Based on research that has been done in class IV SD 15 Parit Panjang, Lubuk Basung Subdistrict, Agam District, data obtained about module validity were obtained from two expert lecturers. In addition to obtaining data on validity, researchers also obtained data on the practicality of the modules developed which were obtained from a teacher and fifteen grade IV students.
Based on the results of the data obtained by researchers analyzed two data, namely data validity and practicality. In the validity of the module, the researcher obtained the module validation which was assessed as validator in general is 3.43 with valid criteria. Then the researchers obtained a score from the practicality of a teacher module that is 90.75% with very practical criteria. Apart from the teacher the researcher also obtained module practicality data from fifteen students, with an average module practicality of 88% and very practical criteria.
Based on the development of the science module test data with the Inquiry approach to the material style that has been done, it is concluded that the validity of the Natural Sciences module which is considered validator in general is 3.43, the practicality of the Natural Sciences module which is assessed by the teacher is 90.75% and 88% students.
Keywords: Science Module, Inquiry Approach, Valid and Practical.
