Indonesian language learning in elementary schools is aimed at increasing the ability of students to communicate in Indonesian properly and verbally, both verbally and in writing and foster an appreciation of the work of Indonesian literary work. One of the language skills that students must have is speaking skills. By having good speaking skills, students will easily convey their ideas and ideas to others. When learning activities teachers only use the lecture and question and answer method, the method used by the teacher is less varied, students become more listeners so students become passive and feel bored in the classroom. To overcome these problems, one way to improve speaking skills in learning Indonesian in class IIIA SDN 43 Dadok Tunggul Hitam Padang is through the Role Playing learning model. Based on these problems, the researcher is interested in conducting research with the title "Improving the Speaking Ability of Class IIIA Students in Learning Indonesian Through Role Playing Learning Models at SDN 43 Dadok Tunggul Hitam Padang".This type of research is a Class Action Research consisting of four components, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The independent variable in this study is the Role Playing learning model while the dependent variable is the ability to speak in learning Indonesian. The subjects of this study were 27 students of class IIIA SDN 43 Dadok Tunggul Hitam Padang. Consisting of 12 male students and 15 female students. Instruments for collecting data, namely teacher observation activities sheets, instruments for evaluating students' speaking abilities and tests of learning outcomes in an objective form.The results showed that the role playing learning model can increase teacher activity from 69.44% in the first cycle which increased to 91.66% in the second cycle. Increase students' speaking ability for each indicator from 61.74% in the first cycle to 89.07% in the second cycle. Mastery Learning students experienced an increase in the first cycle of the average learning outcomes of 70.37 with a percentage of mastery learning 44.44% and in the second cycle an average learning outcome of 86.29 with a percentage of mastery learning 88.88%.From these data it was concluded that the Role Playing Learning model could improve the speaking ability of class IIIA students in learning Indonesian at SDN 43 Dadok Tunggul Hitam Padang. Thus, using the role playing model should increase the activeness of students in learning and practice the students' speaking skills in accordance with the accuracy of pronunciation, intonation and expression. In addition, it is expected that schools encourage and facilitate teachers in using the role playing model in learning because in research it is proven that this model is very effective.
