Abstrak

Mathemathics concept very theoretical and lack of expressing problem about subject matter of mathematics are background of this research. To solve this problem, one way to do is applying the active learning strategy type of learning starts with a question approach with contextual problems. The purpose of this study was to determine whether students' mathematics learning outcomes with using of active learning strategy type of learning starts with a question approach with contextual problems is better than learning outcomes of students learning mathematics using regular learning in class VIII, SMP N 13 Padang. Technique of analyzing data are consisted analysis normality, homogeneity and obtained  hypothesis that students learning outcomes data were obtained on the average value of 57.36  in the experiment class and the control class is 46.84. While the calculation of t-tes obtained ttable = 1.6697 and tcount = 2.21. Because  tcount  ttable  the hypothesis can be accepted at level of 95%. So it can be concluded that students learning math outcomes that applied students active learning strategy type of learning starts with a question approach with contextual problems is better than learning outcomes regularly in class VIII, SMP N 13 Padang.
