Error Analysis in Solving Mathematical Problems in Class X MIA Students of SMAN 1 Koto Baru Dharmasraya.
Abstrak
The low student mathematics learning outcomes are caused by mistakes in solving mathematical problems, such as facts, concepts, principles, and algorithms. To find out how many students made mistakes and what factors caused the error, an error analysis was carried out in solving math problems for the student to help in determining the right way of learning, so that these mistakes can be avoided.
The research conducted was a type of qualitative research. Participants in this study were all class X MIA SMAN 1 Koto Baru Dharmasraya consisting of 3 classes. The sample in this study was class X MIA1. The sample selection is based on information from the teacher after discussing the student's condition.
The results of this study were obtained from the results of diagnostic tests and interviews conducted in the sample class. So it is known that students made 20% fact errors, 80% concept errors, 50% principle errors, and 93.33% algorithm errors. The error were caused by internal and external factors
From the results of this study, it is recommended that students re-understand the prerequisite material before starting new materials, familiarize themselves in following the correct steps in solving problems so that no information is missed and make good use of the facilities provided by the school. Teachers are also advised to provide challenges that can increase student awareness and cooperation in learning mathematics.
