This study aims to describe the effect of Problem Based Learning learning models on learning outcomes of Social Sciences of third grade students at SDN 20 Kurao Pagang, Padang. The theory used in this study is Susanto's (2014) theory of learning Social Sciences and Problem Based Learning learning models proposed by Fathurrohman (2015). This type of research is an experimental study with a population of all third grade students of SDN Kurao Pagang Padang, totaling 52 students. The research design used was Posttest Only Control Design and obtained class III B as the Experiment class and class III A as the control class. Hypothesis testing is done by ttest, because the data is normally distributed and homogeneous variance.

 The final test learning results showed the average IPS score of grade 3 students at SDN 20 Kurao Pagang Padang, using the Problem Based Learning model with an initial grade average of 66.40 after being treated using a higher Problem Based Learning model, 73, 7 and the average value of the initial data control class is 69.04 to 66.25 with the statistical test level (α = 0.05) obtained tcount = 2.04 and ttable = 1.99 means tcount > ttable, then hypothesis H1 is accepted. Based on the results of these studies it can be concluded that there is an effect of applying the Problem Based Learning learning model to the learning outcomes of Social Sciences (IPS) of Grade III students at SDN 20 Kurao Pagang Padang. The author suggests that teachers can use the Problem Based Learning learning model so that it can improve student learning outcomes
