Improving Learning Outcomes of Adding Numbers Through Inquiry Approach in Public Elementary School 04 Luhak Nan Duo, West Pasaman Regency.

Abstrak

Based on the experience of researchers while teaching at SD Negeri 04 Luhak
Nan Duo, West Pasaman District, it turns out there are still many students who do
not understand in learning the addition of integers. This is due to the teacher doing
learning the sum of integers mostly using the number line, but with the number
line students sometimes hesitate to use it in operations and during learning
activities students only receive material from the teacher, then take notes and do
the exercises. Students are less actively involved in the learning process. Dalais
(2007: 33) states, "Integers are numbers consisting of positive integers 1, 2, 3, 4
.....) and negative integers (-1, -2, -3, -4 ...... ) and the number 0 (zero) ". In
general, teachers only use conventional learning. Based on this the researcher
conducted a class action research entitled "Increased learning outcomes of integer
sums through the inquiry approach in class IV SD Negeri 04 Luhak Nan Duo,
West Pasaman Regency"
This type of research is a classroom action research with research subjects are
all grade IV students of SD Negeri 04 Luhak Nan Duo, West Pasaman Regency as
many as 20 students in the 2018/2019 school year. Data collection techniques
used in this study are observation and test results. The data analyzed in this study
are the results of learning mathematics on cognitive aspects collected through
tests.
The results of the first cycle research completeness student learning outcomes
64% with 12 students have reached the minimum completeness criteria (KKM)
and 36% or 8 students have not yet reached the KKM, with unfinished criteria.
Whereas in the second cycle the completeness of student learning outcomes
increased to 77.5%, 16 students had completed KKM and 22.5% or 40 students
had not yet reached KKM with the criteria completed.
Based on the research results obtained it can be concluded that the inquiry
approach to learning the addition of integers can improve learning outcomes. It is
recommended that teachers be able to design the implementation of mathematics
learning using the inquiry approach.
