Abstrak

ABSTRACT

 

This research was stimulated by lalck of student’s activities background and learning outcome  at class VII7 SMPN 1 South Solok in teaching writing skill. The aim of this research was to describe the improvement of students’ activities and learning outcome in teaching writing skill, by the implementation the cooperative teaching method of jiqsaw type.  This research used theory of (1) Oemar Hamalik, Sardiman, and Slameto about the activities. (2) Tarigan and Atar about the teaching writing. (3) Slavin, Asma and Suprijono about the cooperative learning of Jigsaw type, and (4) Kunandar and  Muslich about the class action research.  This research was a class action research. The type of study used qualitative research and quantitative. The subject of this research was all students at class at class VII7 SMPN 1 South Solok in academic period 20121/2013 was totally 24 people. The research was conducted in two cycles. The collection of data in this research used observation sheet, writing test and field notes. Based on the result of research, can be seen the average of students’ mark in the first cycle was 54,75 and second cycle 77,75 while the average value of students’ learning outcome in the first cycles was 73 and second cycle was 82. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of teaching method of jigsaw type can be improved the students’ activities and learning outcome to teaching writing skill at class  VII7 SMPN 1 South Solok.
