Education is basically a conscious and planned effort to create an atmosphere of learning and learning process so that students actively develop their potential. Related to education, the teaching and learning process is a very fundamental process. The education process will run in accordance with the objectives if supported by the curriculum, because the curriculum is used as a reference in the implementation of the learning process of each educational unit. The use of models in the learning process has significant significance. By using models in learning, will help eliminate the boredom of students in receiving lessons. One of them is by using the word square learning model in social studies learning. This research is motivated by the low student learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is to describe the Effect of the Word Square Model on Social Studies Learning Outcomes of Grade IV Students at 37 Negeri SD Pagambiran.
This type of research is experimental research. The technique used in data collection on social studies learning outcomes is an objective test. The population in this study were all students of grade IV 37 Pagambiran Elementary School, totaling 61 students. In this study the sample was selected using a random sampling technique where class IV A as the control class and class IV B as the experimental class.
The results showed that the average score of the learning outcomes after being given treatment obtained an average test score of 87.9 experimental class students and 80.3 control class students. Hypothesis testing using t-test showed tcount> ttable, where tcount 2.303> ttable 2.007 as evidenced by the significant level of significance ∝ = 0.05%.
Based on the results of these studies it can be concluded that there is an influence of social studies learning outcomes of experimental class students using the Word Square learning model. So that the model can be applied and developed to achieve optimal social learning outcomes in the school.
