Abstrak

This background of this researche lack of the understanding of mathematical concept of VIII student class at SMP Negeri 5 Talang Mount generally centered learning on the teacher, student participation in the learning process is still low, the lack of interaction between teachers and students and low student learning outcomes obtained. The purpose of this study was to determine how students learning activities by using active learning strategies firing line  formation type and determine whether students mathematics learning outcomes using active learning strategy firing line formation type is better than the results of students mathematics learning by using conventional learning in class VIII at SMP Negeri 5 Talang Mount. This type of research is experimental research. The population is all of eighth grade students of VIII class at SMP Negeri 5 Talang Mount academic year 2012/2013 which consists of four classes. The data analyzed by using the hypothesis t-test. After processing the data obtained t.compute = 4,0435 and t.table=1,686 at 95% confidence level, so that t compute > t table. Thus, the hypothesis is accepted that the learning outcomes of students learning mathematics by using active learning strategy formation type firing line is better than learning outcomes of students learning mathematics by using conventional learning.
