The Relationship between Hand Eye Coordination and Emotional Intelligence with the Free Throw Ability of the Basketball Player in SMP Negeri 15 Padang

Abstrak

This research is motivated by the large number of free throws that do not produce points (point). this is caused by several things, among others: lack of targeting accuracy, inadequate eye hand coordination, body balance, mental and emotional intelligence that still cannot be controlled. When shooting a free throw the shot ball does not enter the ring, and when you do a free throw the ball goes off target. From some of these problems, the writer wants to do research at 15 Public Middle School in Padang and find solutions to existing problems, so that they know what things are contained in solving these problems. Based on this, the researcher is interested in conducting correlation research with the title " The Relationship between Eye Hand Coordination and Emotional Intelligence with the Free Throw Ability of the Basketball Player of SMP Negeri 15 Padang ". This type of research is correlational research. The population of this study was 60 male students of basketball students at SMP Negeri 15 Padang. The sampling technique with a total sampling technique of 60 students. The free variable test instruments are ball throw and questionnaire, the free throw dependent variable is then analyzed by correlation test. The results of the analysis show that, (1) Significantly there is a correlation between eye hand coordination with the free throw ability of basketball players at SMP Negeri 15 Padang with the results of rcount (0.821)> rtable (0.254). (2) Significantly there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and the ability of free throwing basketball players in SMP Negeri 15 Padang with the rcount (0.389)> rtable (0.254). (3) Significantly there is a correlation between eye hand coordination and emotional intelligence together with the free throw ability of basketball players at SMP Negeri 15 Padang with the results of Fcount (5.58)> Ftable (1.56). From the results of the study it can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between hand eye coordination and emotional intelligence together with the ability of the free throw basketball player of SMP Negeri 15 Padang
