This research is motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of Grade VII students of SMP Negeri 31 Padang in the Odd Semester Exams in Class VII of the 2019/2020 Academic Year which are still under the KKM. This is due to the lack of creativity of students in working on math problems. Students also revealed that they could not work on problems that were different from the sample questions given by the teacher. The Learning Condition causes the student’s ability to think creatively less than optimal. To overcome this problem, one of the efforts made is by applying the Eliciting Activities (MEAs) model to the mathematics learning of Grade VII students of SMPN 31 Padang.

This type of research is experimental research. The population in this study was grade VII students of SMP Negeri 31 Padang, which consisted of eight classes. The sample in this study was class VII.5 as an experimental class and class VII.6 as a control class.

Based on student learning outcomes data in the two sample classes, After conducting a hypothesis test using the t-test formula. Based on the calculation obtained tcount = 3.323 and t (0.95; 62) = 167.19 then tcount> t (0.95; 62) and means reject H0 and accept H1. Thus, it can be concluded that the creative thinking ability of Grade VII students of SMP Negeri 31 Padang by applying the Eleciting Activities (MEAs) model is better than the creative thinking abilities of students whose learning applies ordinary learning.

From the results of this study the researchers suggest that mathematics teachers apply the Eliciting Activities (MEAs) model to mathematics learning so that one of the efforts is to make students think creatively and make student learning outcomes better.
