Application of the Inquiry Learning Model to Results Studying Mathematics for Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri 22 Padang

Abstrak

This research is motivated by the number of students who have low grades in mathematics learning. Students have difficulty working on questions that are different from the example problems given by the teacher. To find out the level of mastery of student material can be seen from the acquisition of student learning outcomes. There are still many student learning outcomes below the KKM value. This is because students do not understand the learning material and they are not trying to find and solve the problems they face. To overcome this problem, the effort made was by applying the Inquiry learning model to the mathematics learning outcomes of students of class VIII of SMP Negeri 22 Padang.

            The type of research used is experimental research. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 22 Padang. The sample classes were taken randomly, so that the sample classes were students of class VIII.3 as the control class, and students of class VIII.7 as the experimental class.

            Based on data on learning outcomes of mathematics in the sample class using the t test. Obtained t '= 2.60 and. Because t '> it can be concluded that the hypothesis H0 is rejected. So the result of mathematics studies of students that learn model of inquiry studies is better than the result of the mathematic studies and use the ussuall studies in vii class of smp negeri 22 padang.

            From the results of this study the researchers suggest that mathematics teachers apply the Inquiry model to mathematics learning as an effort to make learning more active and can make student learning outcomes better.
