Analysis Of Mathematics Study Problem Solving Ability In Class VII SMP Kartika I-7 Padang Viewed From Honey-Mumford Model Learning Styles
Abstrak
This research is motivated by student’s mathematical problem solving abilities that are still relatively low and diverse student learning styles. This can be seen from the learning process and the way students work on a given task, in completing a task, students are only able to understand the problem well, but not in planning the solution, so students are not able to find the right solution.
This research method is a qualitative study with the type of research is descriptive research. The study population was all eighth grade students of Kartika I-7 Padang Middle School. Sampling was taken based on a purposive sampling technique with a sample class that is class VIII.2. The research instrument was a problem solving ability test, a learning style questionnaire Honey-Mumford model and interview guidelines.
The results of the study showed that the percentage of activist, reflector, theoretical, pragmatic learning styles were 7%, 54%, 32%, 7% respectively. Analysis of problem solving skills in students is still not able to do all the problems given by applying the stages of problem solving according to Polya
Based on the results of the study it is suggested to students to frequently work on problems in the form of problem solving and solve them based on Polya's problem solving stages.
