Abstrak

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this reseach was to look a differences in the results of biological studies with the application of learning Science, Technology and Society (STS) in the accompanied Handouts in learning biology class VII in SMPN 12 Padang. This research is to design experiments Randomize Control Group Post-test only design. The study population was all students in class VII SMPN 12 Padang school year 2012/2013. Sample grading done by purposive sampling technique to obtain VII6 class as the experimental class and the class VII7 as controls. Results from this study showed the use of learning Science, Technology and Society (STS) in the accompanied Handout improve student learning outcomes with an average value of experimental class is 82.92 and control class is 76.08. Hypothesis testing using t-test values obtained t = (2.35)> table = 2.00 with significance level = (α 0.05) means that H1 is accepted. Siwa assessment learning activities in the affective domain shows the average percentage of second grade sample contained a significant difference in learning outcomes is 83.42% for the experimental class and 78.18% for the control class. Assessment of student learning activities in the affective domain shows the average percentage of second grade sample contained a significant difference in learning outcomes is 83.42% for the experimental class and 78.18% for the control class. Assessment of student learning activities in the areas of psychomotor also shows the average percentage of two sample is significantly different in experiment class 81.57% and 78.03% in the control class. From the analysis of the data which have been obtained can be concluded that the application of learning Science, Technology and Society (STS) in the accompanied Handout has a higher learning outcomes than learning that using the conventional method. Learning outcomes in the affective domain and psychomotor activity students learn both classes of samples also showed significant differences.
