Abstrak

There are several factors that cause low mathematics achievement of students, including the implementation of learning mathematics is still dominated by teachers, students tend to receive the material provided by the teacher. To overcome these problems, one attempts to do is to implement an active learning strategy type Learning Tournament. The purpose of this study to determine the learning outcomes of students learning mathematics applying active learning strategies Learning Tournament type is better than the results of student learning with conventional learning in class VIII SMP 15 Padang. This type of research is experimental research. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMPN 15 Padang academic year 2012/2013 which consists of four classes selected by random sampling.
