Abstrak

Natural science or science is the study of natural phenomena which includes living things and non-living things or the science of life and physical sciences. Nurdyansyah (2018: 4) argues that “science can literally be called the science of nature or which studies events that occur in nature. Natural science is a subject that deals with knowing nature systematically. Science as a subject in school can provide roles and experiences for students. Science learning outcomes can be greatly influenced by student motivation. Natural science (IPA) is one of the subjects related to knowing nature systematically. Science is not only a collection of knowledge in the form of facts, concepts, or principles, but also a process of discovery. Science education in elementary schools is expected to be a vehicle for students to learn about themselves and their surroundings. In general, the media in the learning process is used to facilitate interaction between teachers and students so that learning activities will be more effective and efficient. At least the teacher can use simple and inexpensive tools in an effort to achieve learning objectives. The word media comes from the Latin medius which literally means 'middle', 'intermediary' or 'introduction'. Arsyad (2019: 3) says that "media when understood in broad terms is human, material or events that build conditions that enable students to acquire knowledge, skills or attitudes". In this sense teachers, textbooks and the school environment are media. More specifically, the notion of media in the teaching and learning process tends to be defined as graphic, photographic or electronic tools to capture, process and reconstruct visual or verbal information. Thus, researchers are interested in conducting development research with the title "Development of Smart Wheel Game Media in Theme 5 Ecosystems, Sub Theme 1 Ecosystem Components for Class V SD Negeri 14 Koto Panjang Students". This study aims to produce a smart wheel game media in science learning class V theme 5 Ecosystem sub-theme 1 Ecosystem Component for class V SD Negeri 14 Koto Panjang that has met the valid criteria. This type of research is a development research (Research and Development). The research model used was ADDIE, namely analysis, design, and development. Due to time constraints, this study only reached the development stage. However, due to the current condition, the research carried out only reached the validation stage carried out by material experts and media experts. The research instrument includes a validation sheet. Smart wheel play media in science learning is validated by 2 lecturers consisting of 1 material expert lecturer and 1 media expert lecturer. Based on the results of research on the development of smart wheel game media for fifth grade students of SD Negeri 14 Koto Panjang using the Aiken V formula, it fulfills the valid criteria with a value of 0.94 from material experts and 0.77 from media experts.
