PENINGKATAN KECEPATAN MEMBACA SISWA KELAS XI IPS 2 DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN TEKNIK CLOZE DI SMAN I 2X11 ENAM LINGKUNG KABUPATEN PADANG PARIAMAN

Abstrak

The background of this research is an observation indicating dominancy of speech method in classroom and no variation in learning model, so that students become passive in learning process. This brings student’s learning outcomes to become lower than minimal completeness criteria (KKM). The purpose of this research is to increase student’s reading speed in XI IPS 2 class SMAN 1 2x11 Enam Lingkung Kabupaten Padang Pariaman, by using cloze technique. Theories that applied here are: 1) Tarigan about theory of rapid reading, 2) Fanany about reading theory, and 3) Agustina about  rapid reading theory and cloze technique. This is class measuring research and consists of two cycles that is first and second cycles, while each cycle consists of two meeting. Results of this research show that: 1) students who complete this subject matter in first cycle were 71 students, while in second cycles it was 87 students (16% increasing), and 2) percentage student’s activity in first cycle is 74% and in second cycles is 82% (8% increasing). Based on results, it can be conclude that cloze technique can increase student’s learning outcomes of rapid reading in XI IPS 2 class SMAN 1 2x11 Enam Lingkung Kabupaten Padang Pariaman.
