Abstrak

This study aims to analyze: 1) Perception of math story question and ability to understand story question, 2) Effect of perception of math story question and ability to understand story question on student learning outcomes. The type of research used in this research is correlational research. The population of this study were students of class VIII SMP Negeri 22 Padang. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, with a sample of 25 students. Data analysis techniques: descriptive analysis, normality test, simple linear regression test, correlation coefficient test, coefficient of determination test and hypothesis testing. The results showed that; (1) Students' perceptions of math story question are quite good with an average of 2.64 and the level of achievement of respondents is 66.1% with a score range of 1-4 using a Likert scale; (2) the ability of students to understand story questions from a total of 25 students, 4 students or 16% were at a high level, 17 students or 68% were at a moderate level, 4 students or 16% were at a low level; (3) There is a positive and significant influence between the perception of math story question and the ability to understand story question on the learning outcomes of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 22 Padang, which is indicated by the tcount 2.553 > ttable 2.07387. based on the analysis of the coefficient of determination obtained r2 is 0.221, which means that the relationship between the perception variable about math story problems affects learning outcomes by 22.1% while the remaining 77.9% is influenced by other factors.
