KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA TEKS BERITA SISWA KELAS VIII-1 SMP NEGERI 1 SOLOK SELATAN

Abstrak

           This study aimed to describe the ability to read news which include: (1) smooth, (2) intonation, (3) articulation, (4) the volume and (4) attitude. The theory used in this study are: opinions, Taringan and Farida Rahim on reading as well as opinions, M. Semi Atar about news. This research is descriptive qualitative research method, the research aims to describe the ability to read text news VIII.1 graders of SMP Negeri 1 Solok Selatan. Research object is class VIII.1SMP Negeri 1 Solok Selatan consisting 24 students. Data collection techniques in this study were (1) to provide text news to students, (2) assigning students to read the text message, and (3) assess students' reading of the text of the news. Based on the results of this research is the average reading ability of students per indicator is as follows: (1) smooth with an average value of 75, (2) intonation with an average value of 68, (3) articulation with an average value of 77 , (4) volume with an average value of 82, and (5) the attitude of the average value of 80. Thus, of the five aspects assessed can disimpulakan average reading ability of grade VIII.1 SMP Negeri 1 Solok Selatan is 76 with a good classification.
