IMPROVED STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES CIVICS CLASS VIIC WITH DISCOVERY METHODS IN SMP I SOLOK BUKIT SUNDI

Abstrak

This study begins with the observation conducted in class VIIC SMPN1 Solok Bukit Sundi . In this class learn the results obtained Civics students is still low . Of the 22 students , only 9 people were able to achieve a predetermined KKM . The low student achievement in these subjects because conventional approaches are still using the lecture method in teaching . This causes students to be less interested in learning civics .This study is an action research using qualitative and quantitative approaches . Data were obtained from observations , test results , and field notes relating to the planning , execution , and learning outcomes . The data consists of planning data in the form of a draft implementation plan , implementation of data related to actions taken in the implementation of the learning process and learning outcome data were obtained based on student test results . In the first cycle of student test results are the average of 64.4 increased to 83.07 in the second cycle . While the source of the data in this study are student learning outcomes VIIC class and observation sheets , and learning activities for students . The method used in this study is the Discovery method that emphasizes the direct involvement of students in finding their own learning materials and summarize . Discovery method consists of 6 stages , namely stimulasion , problem statement , the data collection , the data processing , verification , and generalization . Research conducted by Discovery method successfully improve student learning outcomes Civics class VIIC . Mastery of students in the first cycle at the 64.42 koognitif aspects , the affective aspect is 58.38. Improved learning process occurs in the second cycle to gain mastery in the cognitive aspects with an average value of 83.07 , the affective aspect is 83. Then an increase in the results of each aspect of the cognitive , affective and psychomotor in the second cycle . From the results above, the student learning outcomes VIIC class increased , and research declared successful in cycle II.
