Abstrak

Learning is a process of interaction between students (learners) and between students and educators (teachers) and learning resources in the learning environment. Mathematics learning is a branch of science about numbers, a branch of science that deals with the process of learning experiences through a series of planned activities. Understanding in learning is the level of ability that expects someone to know the meaning or concepts, situations and facts. In this case, they are not only memorized verbally, but also understand the concept or fact that is being asked, so that their operations can distinguish, change, prepare, present, organize, interpret, explain, demonstrate, give examples, estimate, determine and make decisions. Students are said to have the ability to understand concepts in learning mathematics if the indicators for understanding concepts are met. For example, in learning the relationship between lines, if the student has mastered the concept of the relationship between lines, the student is able to re-explain in his own sentence the definition, example and nature of the relationship between lines. Discovery Learning is a method of understanding concepts, meanings, and relationships, through an intuitive process to finally arrive at a conclusion. Discovery Learning is a learning strategy that tends to ask students to make observations, experiments, or scientific actions to get a conclusion from the results of these scientific actions. The type of research carried out isClassroom Action Research, which is an activity carried out by the teacher or jointly carried out by other people (collaboration) which aims to improve/improve the quality of the learning process in the classroom. Action research is suitable for improving the quality of the subjects to be studied. Based on the observations in the first cycle, it can be obtained an average value of 96.875% in the teacher aspect and an average value of 79.34% in the student aspect. Then in the second cycle obtained an average value of 96.875% in the teacher aspect and an average value of 90.65% in the student aspect. Thus, the increase in the ability to understand mathematical concepts in the material of the relationship between lines using the Discovery at SDN 01 Pasar Laban Bungus Teluk Kabung Padang City can increase, it can be seen from the recapitulation of the evaluation of student learning outcomes in the second cycle which is higher than the first cycle, which is 79.34% increased to 90.64%, seen by an increase of 11.3%.
