Abstrak

Social Studies is one of the subjects that can help students adjust to their environment. According to Rahmad (2016: 68), the purpose of social studies learning is to develop the potential of students to be sensitive to personal problems, social problems that occur in society, and to be skilled in overcoming any problems that occur both for themselves and for society in general. To achieve social studies learning objectives in elementary schools, teachers need to develop useful learning. One of them is by using an innovative learning model. This type of research is quantitative with experimental methods. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental design research. Quasi experimental design exists in two forms, namely time series design and nonequivalent control group design. In this study, the authors used a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. The subject of this research is class VA AND VB SD Negeri 05 Maninjau with 35 students. Class VA consists of 19 students as the experimental class, while class VB has 18 students as the control class registered in the 2021/2022 academic year. Based on the results of the research data analysis that has been done, the average pretest results for the experimental class were 47.17 and in the control class was 46.83. After being given treatment in the experimental class with Problem Based Learning and the control class with conventional learning, the average posttest result for the experimental class was 85.06, while the control group was 70.35. The results of data analysis from hypothesis testing that have been carried out, obtained tcount of 4.534 while ttable of 1.6895 This means tcount > ttable (4.534 > 1.6895), then the hypothesis H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Therefore, the problem based learning model is very influential.
