IMPROVING STUDENTS' READING SKILLS IN INDONESIAN LANGUAGE LEARNING THROUGH MODELS PROBLEM BASED LEARNING (PBL) IN THE CLASSROOM V SDN 02 PPA SOLOK CITY

Education in primary school is the first foundation for the achievement of further educational success. Education is carried out in the form of a learning process which is the implementation of the school curriculum. A school is an educational institution that has the task of delivering students to develop all their potential. students' ability to read is still low, students who actively answer the map given by the teacher are only a few, students who often go in and out of the classroom when the teacher is explaining the learning material, students noisy when the teacher is explaining the learning material. One of the learning models that can be used to improve students' reading skills is the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model according to Shoimin (2016: 130),states that learning with a teaching model characterized by the existence of real problems as a context for students, learning critical thinking and problem-solving skills and acquiring knowledge. This type of researcher is Classroom Action Research (PTK) research. According to Arikunto et al (2017: 1), PTK is a discernment of learning activities in the form of an action, which is deliberately raised and occurs in a class simultaneously. The subjects of this study were class V students of SDN PPA solok city, totaling 30 people. The instruments of this study are teacher activity observation sheets, student activity observation sheets and learning tests. The data collection techniques used are teacher activity sheets, student activity sheets and learning outcomes. Data analysis in this study is to use percentages. The results of the study can be seen that, the average percentage of teacher activity in cycle I of 70.00% increased in cycle II to 92.00%. In student activity, the average percentage of cycle I was 66.66% increased in cycle II to 95.83%, the average percentage of learning outcomes test cycle I was 75.66% increased in cycle II to 85.00%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that using the Prombel Based Learning (PBL) model can increase teacher and student activities and increase the value of learning outcomes in student reading skills.Diterbitkan
