Efforts to Improve the Ability to Solve Story Problems in Learning Mathematics through the Problem Solving Model of Class V Elementary School 02 Lubuk Alung
Abstrak
EFFORTS TO IMPROVE THE ABILITY OF SOLVING STORY PROBLEMS IN LEARNING MATHEMATICS THROUGH PROBLEM SOLVING MODELS OF CLASS V STUDENTS OF SD NEGERI 02 LUBUK ALUNG Abstract This research was motivated by the low ability of students to solve word problems in mathematics. The purpose of this study was to describe the application of the Problem Solving model in improving the ability to solve word problems in learning mathematics in fifth grade students at Elementary School 02 Lubuk Alung. This type of research was classroom action research which was carried out in two cycles consisting of two meetings and one meeting at the end of the cycle test. Obtaining the value of observing teacher activity in the learning process cycles I and II obtained a final score of 100 with a very good predicate. The results showed that the ability to solve word problems through the Problem Solving model had increased. The test results in the first cycle showed 60.7% (17 students) of the number of students who reached the category of story problem solving ability scores, while in the second cycle there were 75% (21 students) of the number of students who reached the story problem solving ability score category. This shows that the Problem Solving model is proven to be able to improve the ability to solve math word problems for fifth grade students at SD Negeri 02 Lubuk Alung. The advice given, learning the Problem Solving model can be an alternative to improve the ability to solve students' word problems so that the results obtained by students are satisfactory.
