"Improvement of Class I Student Learning Outcomes in Learning Mathematics Through the Picture and Picture Model at Sdn 08 Surau Gadang Padang

Education is a process that is built by the community to bring new generations towards progress in a certain way according to the abilities that are useful for achieving the highest level of progress (Abdullah, 2007:15). Learning is a teaching process in which the teacher teaches or guides students toward a process of self-maturity (Suryono & Hariyanto, 2014: 183). According to Rusman (in Hasanah, 2021: 954) Learning mathematics is a mental activity to understand the meaning and relationships and symbols, then apply it to real situations. Learning outcomes are the basis for determining the level of success of students in understanding the subject matter. Taufik and Muhammadi (2012: 146) state that the Picture and Picture model is a learning model by using images that are paired or sorted into a logical sequence. The model used is the Picture and Picture model. This model consists of 7 steps, namely conveying learning outcomes, presenting material, showing pictures, calling students to pair pictures, asking reasons for choosing pictures, instilling concepts and ending with conclusions. Based on the steps of the picture and picture model, learning by using pictures, the researcher was interested in conducting a study entitled "Improving Class I Student Learning Outcomes in Mathematics Learning Through the Picture and Picture Model at SDN 08 Surau Gadang Padang". The type of research used in this research is classroom action research. Classroom action research (CAR) is research conducted by teachers in their own classes through self-reflection, with the aim of improving teacher performance, so that student learning outcomes increase (Wardhani, et al. 2013: 14). The subjects in this study were grade 1 students at SDN 08 Surau Gadang, Nanggalo sub-district, Padang city, with a total of 28 students, 13 boys and 15 girls. Based on the results of the study showed that the observation of teacher activity in the first cycle with a percentage of 70% and in the second cycle increased by 84%. Based on the learning outcomes test in cycle I, an average of 68 was obtained with a percentage of 61%. In cycle II there was an increase with an average of 81 and the percentage was 82%. Based on the discussion above, it can be concluded that the picture and picture model can improve student learning outcomes in learning mathematics, so that it can be used to improve student learning outcomes and a learning tool in class I SDN 08 Surau Gadang Padang.Referensi
