Abstrak

IMPROVING HIGHER ORDER THINKING SKILLS WITH PROBLEM BASED LEARNING MODELS IN MATHEMATICS COURSES IN CLASS V SD NEGERI 12 SUNGAI SAPIH PADANG Riska Nanda Putri1, Syukma Netti2 1Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program 2Mathematics Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Bung Hatta University Email : riskananda416@gmail.com ABSTRACT This research was motivated by the low ability of high-level thinking students in mathematics in class V SD Negeri 12 Sungai Sapih Padang. The purpose of this study was to describe the increase in higher order thinking skills with the Problem Based Learning learning model in Mathematics in class V SD Negeri 12 Sungai Sapih Padang. This type of research is classroom action research (CAR). This study consisted of 2 cycles, each cycle consisting of 3 meetings. The subjects of this study were 22 students of class V, totaling 22 students. The research instrument used was the teacher's observation sheet and the end-of-cycle test sheet. Based on teacher observations, it was found that the percentage of teachers in managing learning in cycle I was 74.03% and increased in cycle II to 87.49%, while the results of tests of students' higher-order thinking skills obtained the percentage of students' higher-order thinking abilities in cycle I, which was 27, 27% (6 students) and in cycle II it becomes 54.54% (12 students). This means that the indicators of success in this study were achieved. It can be concluded from this research that through the Problem Based Learning learning model it can improve the high-level thinking skills of fifth grade students in Mathematics at SD Negeri 12 Sungai Sapih Padang. Based on this research, it is suggested to teachers to be able to use the Problem Based Learning model in learning to improve students' higher order thinking skills in mathematics.
