Abstrak

This research is motivated by learning mathematics which still has the lowest score compared to other subjects. In addition, students also still have difficulty analyzing story questions using their reasoning and the low problem-solving abilities of students in working on story-shaped questions in mathematics learning. The purpose of this study was to find out how to improve problem solving skills using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach in class IV B SD N 07 Gurun Laweh. The research method used is classroom action research using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. The subjects in this study were class IV B students at SDN 07 Gurun Laweh with a total of 12 students, consisting of 5 male students and 7 female students. The data taken in this study were students' problem-solving abilities obtained through problemsolving ability test sheets. Students' problem-solving abilities after participating in learning with the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach show good results. Judging from the average percentage of students' problem-solving abilities in the learning process from cycle I to cycle II, it has increased by 50% to 75%. From the results of the study it can be concluded that learning mathematics using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach can improve the problem solving skills of fourth grade students at SD Negeri O7 Gurun Laweh Kec. Nanggalo City of Padang. It is hoped that for further research the implementation of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach can improve other aspects of learning.
