Abstrak

This study aims to improve critical thinking skills and learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SDN 51 Kuranji Padang City using the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Powtoon media. This type of research is classroom action research. The subjects of this study were all 17 students in class V at SDN 51 Kuranji, Padang City. The research data is in the form of information about the results of the action obtained through observing the teacher's teaching activities, students' critical thinking skills and the final test of learning. The research results obtained, there was an increase in the average percentage score of teacher teaching activity from the first cycle of 47.66% with the low category increasing to 88.22% with the very good category in the second cycle. Students' critical thinking skills from the first cycle of 47.60% with the rare category increased to 88.22% in the second cycle with the frequent category. The percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes increased from cycle I, namely 64.70% to 94.11% in cycle II. The average student learning outcomes of 80.05 in cycle I increased to 85 in cycle II with an average learning outcome of 82.5. This shows that the use of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Powtoon media can improve critical thinking skills and science learning outcomes for fifth grade students at SDN 51 Kuranji, Padang City. Based on the results of this study, the researchers suggest that teachers can apply the Powtoon-assisted Problem Based Learning learning model in science learning in accordance with the material being taught.
