Abstrak

Learning mathematics is a teaching and learning process built by the teacher to develop students' creative thinking which can improve students' thinking skills, and can improve the ability to construct new knowledge as an effort to improve good mastery of mathematical material (Susanto, 2013: 185) therefore the teacher must have high creativity in conveying learning material so that students are interested in participating in learning and can understand the material presented properly so as to improve student learning outcomes. But in the process of the learning process the teacher explains only using conventional methods. Where the teacher only conveys the material with the lecture method and questions and answers with students. This resulted in children quickly getting bored, not focused and some students did not understand the material presented by the teacher and resulted in low student learning outcomes. This can be seen from the learning outcomes of students who did not reach the Learning Objectives Achievement Criteria (KKTP). Based on the problems that have been described, the researchers conducted a Classroom Action Research (PTK) with the title "Application of the Problem Based Learning Model to Improve Student Learning Outcomes in Class IV SD Negeri 25 Koto Panjang, Padang City". This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of 4 procedures, namely action planning, action implementation, observation and reflection. The implementation consists of 2 cycles with each cycle consisting of 2 meetings. At the end of meeting 2, a final cycle test was carried out. The subjects of this study were 28 people, consisting of 18 female students and 10 male students. This research was conducted at SD Negeri 25 Koto Panjang, Padang City, for the 2022/2023 school year in semester II. The research instruments used were teacher activity observation sheets and learning achievement test sheets. Based on the analysis of the results of the research obtained in cycles I and II which had been carried out that using the problem based learning model at SD Negeri 25 Koto Panjang could improve the learning outcomes of fourth grade students in learning mathematics. Based on the research results obtained, the percentage of learning completeness in cycle I was 39.29% with an average score of 70 to 57.14% with an average score of 83 in cycle II. From the results of this study it was concluded that students' mathematics learning outcomes could be improved by using problem based learning models.
