Abstrak

IMPROVING CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY AND STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES THROUGH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROBLEM BASED LEARNING MODELCLASS IV SDN 38 LUBUK BUAYA Tahsa Marela 1, Zulfa Amrina1, Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Bung Hatta University Email: tahsa.marela21@gmail.com ABSTRACT The background of this research is the low mathematics learning outcomes and critical thinking skills of the fourth graders of SDN 38 Lubuk Buaya. This research aims to: (1). Improving students' thinking skills, (2). Improving student learning outcomes. This research is a class action research model of Kemmis & McTaggart which was carried out in 2 cycles. The stages are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research subjects were 27 students of class IV at SDN 38 Lubuk Buaya. Learning outcomes data obtained from the results of the evaluation cycle I and cycle II. Instruments for students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes were obtained from observation sheets of teacher activities, student learning outcomes, and student test sheets. The results showed that the application of the Problem Based Learning model could improve the critical thinking skills of fourth grade students at SDN 38 Lubuk Buaya with an average class score of 90.56 and a very high percentage of students increased by 89%. The application of the Problem Based Learning model can improve the learning outcomes of fourth grade students at SDN Lubuk Buaya in Mathematics learning with an initial average value of 76.12, then it increases in cycle I by 4.74 then in cycle II there is also an increase of 14.44. While the percentage of KKM achievement in the initial conditions was 56%, then increased by 18% and in cycle II increased by 33%. While students' critical thinking skills increased from 40% to 70%. Keywords: critical thinking skills, learning outcomes, students, and Problem Based Learning models.
