Abstrak

One factor causing mathematic lesson of junior high school no 3 Palembayan in 8th grade below minimum standard characteristic was less active in studying and less antusism in doing exercise. Appropriate strategies to deal with it is active Learning strategies of Learning Tournament type Followed by Reward. Through this strategy, students can learn to be more active in learning such as asking , answering questions, and discussing the matter of settlement within the group , and the tournament is being held as an exercise for the student so that the students are expected to understand the material being studied, but that with the presence of Reward giving students could be more enthusiastic about learning . The purpose of this study was to determine the students mathematics learning outcomes by applying Active Learning strategy of Learning Tournament type followed by reward junior high school no 3 Palembayan in 8th better than applying conventional learning. This type of research is experimental. Population is all of students junior high schooll no 3 Palembayan in 8th grade. Samples are 8-2 class as experiment class and 8-1 as control class. Based on the results of data analysis  = 3.40, and  = 1.675. The conclusion is the outcomes of students learning used active learning strategy of Learning tournament type followed Reward better than on conventional learning.
