Abstrak

The process of learning mathematics in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping is one-way, from teacher to students and students are less active in learning. Because of that, the teacher should be able to do learning innovation that make students interest to study. One model that is expected to overcome these problems is to use cooperative learning type Think Pair Square. The purpose of this research is to know activity of students in study mathematics after used model of cooperative learning Think Pair Square at students class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping, and to know the result of the study mathematics students by using model of cooperative learning Think Pair Square is good than the students doing as convensional learning in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping. The type of this research is experiments. The population of this research is the students class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping. The sample in this research is the students at VIII6 class (experiments) and students at VIII5 class (control). Based onthe result of students mathematic learning who apply mathematical cooperative learning models  Think Pair Square type better than the result of students mathematic learning who apply conventional learning in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping.
