PENGARUH PENDEKATAN KONTEKSTUAL (CTL) TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MENULIS KARANGAN DESKRIPSI SISWA KELAS XI SMAN 1 TELUK KUANTAN KABUPATEN KUANTAN SINGINGI RIAU

ABSTRACT
The motivated of this research by the lack of description essay writing skills, lack of understranding of the students’ essay description, lack of use of vocabulary, and learning techniques that do not vary. The porpose of this research was to determine the influence of contextual approach (CTL) on writing ability essay description students class XI Senior High School Number 1 Teluk Kuantan, Kuantan Singingi district, Riau. Used theory is a theory about writing by Tarigan and Semi, about essay description by Keraf and Semi, and about learning model (contextual teaching and learning/CTL) by Sanjaya. This research is a quantitative study, the experimental method. Hypothetical testing is done by using the t twith a confidence level α = 0.05. Obtarned as follows: First, the approach appired CTL as evidence at a significance level 95% obtaired tarithmatic = 12,31, while ttable = 2,04 then tarithmatic> ttable . Second, learning outcomes at class experimental with higher difference 24,67 then the control class in writing essay description students class XI Senior High School Number 1 Teluk Kuantan, Kuantan Singingi district, Riau. Obtrained is tarithmatic = 8,5210, while ttable = 2,002 then tarithmatic> ttable .
