Abstrak

This research is motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of fifth grade students of SDN 37/III Koto Tuo Kerinci and the lack of use of interactive media during learning. Mathematics learning still faces major challenges. Mathematics learning is often considered difficult and frightening by students, resulting in students' ability to understand abstract concepts in mathematics is still lacking. In addition, mathematics learning is still not related to real life, so students find it difficult to understand the direct benefits of the material being studied. As a result, many students lose interest in learning mathematics, especially because of the perception that mathematics is a difficult and frightening subject. Therefore, the application of an interesting, relevant and fun learning model is increasingly important to overcome this obstacle and help students achieve better understanding. From the results of observations, information was obtained through discussions between researchers and Mrs. Tri Pebrina as a teacher in class VB. She said that the low student learning outcomes were seen from the number of students who had not achieved the Learning Objective Achievement Criteria (KKTP), especially in fraction material. Many students still have difficulty understanding basic concepts, so they tend to be confused when faced with more complex questions. Mrs. Tri Pebrina also added that the low level of student activity during learning is caused by the assumption that mathematics is difficult and boring, so students are less enthusiastic about learning. In addition, students are less trained to think critically and solve problems independently, which causes students to have difficulty in solving complex problems. According to Fadilah (2023:3), Learning media is a tool that can be used to help the learning process to be more effective and optimal. At this time the learning process is not only limited to books and blackboards, because currently there are many learning media that can be used by teachers. Learning media is everything that is a link between teachers and students in delivering learning materials according to Ramli (2018:5). Learning media includes all physical equipment and materials used by instructors, lecturers, teachers, tutors or other educators in carrying out learning and facilitating the achievement of learning objectives (Yaumi, 2017:5). Based on the problems that have been explained, the low student learning outcomes in mathematics learning are caused by the difficulty of students understanding the material, which is influenced by conventional methods and the minimal use of interactive media. In class VB, although the teacher has tried to apply the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and use visual media, student learning outcomes have not shown significant improvement. Meanwhile, in class VA, the PBL model has not been applied, so the teaching approach is still traditional. Teachers also do not provide enough space for students to think critically and have not maximized innovative learning media, so that students become less active and are not trained to solve problems independently. This problem shows the need for innovation in teaching methods that are more interesting and relevant to improve student understanding and learning outcomes. According to Apriyani (2021:1105) the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model begins with authentic (real) problems that are in accordance with the subject matter so that it can train students to think critically in solving a problem, and can foster students' skills in solving a problem, Ngalimun (in Apriyani 2021:1105) "PBL is a learning model that involves students to solve a problem through the stages of the scientific method so that students can learn knowledge related to the problem and at the same time have the skills to solve problems". This type of research is an experimental research, which based on the opinion of Sugiyono (2024: 111) states that "The experimental method is a quantitative research method used to determine the effect of independent variables (treatments) on dependent variables (outcomes) in controlled conditions". The reason for choosing experimental research is to test the positive effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model supported by the Quiz Wordwall media on student learning outcomes. By using an experimental group that applies the PBL model assisted by Quiz Wordwall and a control group that uses the Problem Based Learning Model, it can systematically compare the differences in learning outcomes resulting from the two treatments. This experimental study uses a "posttest-only control design" design. To prove the positive influence of the problem based learning model assisted by the quiz wordwall media, several stages of testing were carried out, namely, normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test. However, before conducting the hypothesis test and others, the final student test was first tested in elementary schools that had the same KKTP (Learning Objective Completion Criteria). In this study, a trial was conducted at SD 37/III Kubang Gedang. The data collection technique in this study used tests, in the form of objective questions and essays. Learning outcome data were obtained through the final test in the form of objectives and essays. Based on the final test, the results of the t-test were obtained with a significance level of 0.05 with a t count of 2.88 and a t table of 2.048, this means that t count> t table. So it can be concluded that the use of the Problem Based Learning Model assisted by the Quiz Wordwall Media has a Positive Influence on the Mathematics Learning Outcomes of Class V Students of SDN 37/III Koto Tuo Kerinci in the 2025/2026 Academic Year. Thus, the Problem Based Learning learning model is expected to be used in the learning process to provide a better influence on student learning outcomes.
