This research is motivated by the low high-level thinking skills of fifth grade students in Mathematics learning at SDN 27 Ladang Hutan. Based on information obtained from the fifth grade homeroom teacher, Mrs. Devi Lolasari, S. Pd, Gr. it can be seen that students' ability to solve HOTS level C4-C6 questions is still very low. The fifth grade teacher B has made various efforts to address this problem. One of them is when the teacher explains the material during the learning process by relating the material to everyday life using the lecture method. In addition, the teacher also applies group learning. Although group learning has been implemented, students' thinking skills have not increased significantly. The type of research used by the researcher is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Classroom action research is an action on a learning process carried out by a teacher in his/her own class which aims to improve his/her performance as a teacher so that student learning outcomes increase. This Classroom Action Research is carried out using the cycle method. The cycle consists of four components, namely planning which contains the objectives or competencies that must be achieved and special treatments carried out by the teacher during the learning process; action, which is the treatment carried out by a teacher based on the planning that has been prepared; observation is carried out to collect information about the learning process carried out by the teacher, in accordance with the actions that have been prepared; and reflection, which is the activity of seeing various shortcomings carried out by the teacher during the action process. The results of the study showed that 1) the results of learning activities carried out by teachers increased from cycle I 80% to 91% in cycle II, 2) the average percentage of student learning outcomes in cycle I was 50% with an average value of 77.83 to 80% with an average value of 88.94 in cycle II. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there was an increase in learning activities carried out by teachers in cycle I 80% to 91% in cycle II. And there was an increase in learning outcomes in cycle I 50% to 87% in cycle II in learning Mathematics for grade V students through the Problem Based Learning learning model at SDN 27 Ladang Hutan, Baso District, Agam Regency. Based on the results of this study, the researcher suggests that teachers can use the Problem Based Learning model as an alternative in learning Mathematics.
