Improving Students' Descriptive Writing Skills Using the Outdoor Learning Method for Class IV SDN 03 V Koto Timur Padang Pariaman Regency

Abstrak

ABSTRACK This research is motivated by the lack of descriptive essay writing skills of grade IV students of SDN 03 V Koto Timur, Padang Pariaman Regency. This study aims to describe the improvement of students' descriptive essay writing skills using the Outdoor Learning method for grade IV SDN 03 V Koto Timur, Padang Pariaman Regency. This type of research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles, one cycle consists of two meetings. The procedures in this study are planning, implementation of actions, observation and reflection of actions. The subject of the study was grade IV students of SDN 03 V Koto Timur, Padang Pariaman Regency with a total of 17 students. The research instruments include teacher observation sheets, student observations, and learning outcome tests. The results of observations showed that the average percentage of teacher activity in the first cycle of 62.49% increased to 82.03% in the second cycle. The percentage of student activity also increased from 66.87% in the first cycle to 82.28% in the second cycle. Student learning completeness has increased significantly, from 78.52% in the first cycle to 82.35% in the second cycle. The average final test of students in cycle II was above KKTP 75, meeting the complete category. It can be concluded that the application of the Outdoor Learning method is effective in improving students' skills in writing descriptive essays in Indonesian learning.
