PENGARUH PENERAPAN METODE DISKUSI TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR SISWA DALAM PEMBELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN KEWARGANEGARAAN DI SMP 13 PADANG

Abstrak

ABSTRACT

 

This research was inspired with the background the students’ lower score in learning outcome. Based on the interview data with the teacher of civic education in SMP 13 Padang (November 19, 2012), in fact, when doing the observation to be found there were students’ score of civic education at the class VIII was not fulfill the minimal passing grade criteria, was 75. This class  was not fulfilled the standard score of minimal passing grade criteria those were class VIII2 withaverage value 66 and class VIII5 withaverage value 63. The aim of this research was 1) to describe the influence of discussion method toward students’ learning outcome in the teaching of civic education at the class VIII5 SMP 13 Padang. 2)  To describe influence of Team Games Tournament method toward students’ learning outcome in the teaching of civic education at the class VIII2 SMP 13 Padang.   This study was experimental research, the subject of this research was all students at the class VIII5 totally 35 persons and students at the class VIII2 totally 35 persons. The instruments of this research were students’ and teachers’ observation sheet and final test of students. The result of research showed that there were significant improvements. The data of final test in the civic education on experimental class can achieved the average 75.26 and control class can achieved the average 68.73. To examine the hypothesis used normality test and homogeneity by using the formulation t-test. From the analysis showed that t-calculation = 2.54 and table= 2.00 in the confidence level 0,05. In fact t-calculation > = table, it means that the hypothesis was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the learning outcome of students in civic by using discussion teaching method was better, if compare with student used Team Games Tournament method at the class VIII at SMPN 13 Padang. The researcher suggested to the teachers in order to choose the teaching method, one of them can use discussion teaching method to improve students’ learning outcome.
