Abstract

Writing is a skill that language is used to communicate indirectly or without face-to- face with other people . The purpose of this study was to describe the ability to write a narrative essay class X SMA Negeri 1 Bayang Utara Pesisr Selatan Imagine using a direct object. The theory used in this study is the theory argued by Semi on narrative essay and Keraf on the types and characteristics of narrative essay. This research is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. Data collection is done by writing test, how to explain the material on narrative essays, students are directed to write an expository essay and suggestive narrative with a predetermined topic. After the students have finished writing a narrative essay, essay sheets are collected and researchers classify between expository and narrative suggestive. The results of the study as much data as the data 28, 28 From the data collected the data there are 16 including narrative expository essay and 12 data suggestive narrative essay. Based on these results it can be concluded that the direct object using class X SMA Negeri 1 Bayang UtaraPesisir Selatan District of the school year 2013/2014 is able to write a narrative essay.
