Abstrak

The purpose of this action research is to describe the increase in activity and learning outcomes of students using the Talking Stick models in learning science in fifth grade elementary school of 27 Koto New South Coastal District . Learning model applied in this study are Talking Stick Learning Model . The study was conducted in the first semester of the academic year 2013/2014 with the research subject is the fifth grade students of SDN 27 Koto New South Coastal District totaling 19 learners . Research instruments namely learner activity sheets , teacher observation sheet activities , and achievement test . From the analysis of data obtained by the average learner activity increased from cycle I to cycle II . In the first cycle, the percentage of the activity of learners is 53.63 % , while in the second cycle was 80.25 % and the study of students who completed the first cycle as much as 53.33 % and the second cycle as much as 78.94 % based on the observation of activity and science learning outcomes of students in the first cycle and second cycle showed an increase . It can be concluded that the model of learning by using the talking stick can enhance the activity and learning outcomes of students grade V Koto Elementary School 27 New South Coastal District . Learning to use a talking stick learning model may be one among alternative learning methods that exist .
