Abstrak

The low student learning outcomes are caused by several factors, one of which is the low activity of students in learning mathematics. Therefore, the teacher strives to create learning situations that involve more student’s participation. One of them is by applying the method of peer tutoring. The purpose of this study was to determine the method of peer tutors can increase the activity and results of students' mathematics learning. This research is an action research conducted in two cycles. Subjects in this study were students of class XI Science MAS MTI Batang Kabung Padang. The results showed that the learning outcomes have increased due to the use of methods of peer tutoring in mathematics learning. Increased student learning outcomes caused by increased activity of students in learning mathematics. Based on the average student, the average percentage of student activity and classical completeness percentage in the first cycle and second cycle, it can be concluded the increase and has reached the desired target. This means that the implementation of learning by using peer tutors has increased activity and learning outcomes of students of class XI Science Mathematics MAS MTI Batang Kabung Padang.
