THE TENTH-GRADE STUDENTS’ ABILITY TO WRITE SIMPLE SENTENCES USING SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE ABOUT PICTURES OF DAILY ACTIVITIES AT SMKN 6 PADANG
Abstrak
ABSTRACT
This descriptive research aimed to analyze tenth grade students' ability at SMKN 6 to write simple present tense sentences using daily activity pictures. A sample of 32 students was evaluated with an inter-rater reliability of 0.88. Results showed moderate overall ability (62.5%). Students demonstrated superior ability in Content (87.5%) and Vocabulary (78%), but severe deficiencies in Grammar (53.13% very low) and Mechanics (40.5% low/very low). Consequently, teachers must prioritize structured practice on simple present tense rules and punctuation. Future studies should conduct qualitative error analysis to diagnose the underlying causes of these persistent low scores.
