Abstrak

Student participation in the SMP 3 Padang in learning is still relatively low, most students tend to only be able to mimic what teachers do, they tend to re- record the concepts that already exist in textbooks.Attempts to do to overcome that by implementing cooperative learning Think - Talk - Write. Through this model students can learn to be more active because each student must be able to complete math problems given individual , group discussions with friends, and students are able to collaborate on the results of the discussion that has diperolehnya.Tujuan of this study was to determine whether the results of students' mathematics learning the use of cooperative learning model Think - Talk -Write better than mathematics learning outcomes of students who use conventional learning in class VIII SMP 3 Padang. This type of research is experimental. The population in this study all eighth grade students of SMP 3 Padang academic year 2013/2014. The sample consisted of two randomly selected classes, namely class VIII3 as the experimental class and the control class as a class VIII4. The research instrument is achievement test. After analyzing student learning outcomes data obtained t = 1.86 and t table = 1.67 .Because of t > t table. From the results of the analysis can be concluded that the mathematics learning outcomes of students who pembelajaranya using cooperative learning model Think - Talk -Write better math student learning outcomes using conventional learning.
