INCREASE PARTICIPATION AND LEARNING OUTCOMES OF STUDENTS IN THE FOURTH GRADE CIVICS LEARNING USING A CONSTRUCTIVIST APPROACH IN SDN 13 SURAU GADANG PADANG

Abstrak

This research is motivated lack of participation and learning outcomes of students in the fourth grade at SDN 13 Surau Gadang  Padang. Because the teacher dominated learning in the classroom by applying conventional way of teaching, still teacher centered lecture method. This study aims to improve the participation and learning outcomes civics fourth grade student of SDN 13 Surau Gadang Padang through a constructivist approach. Hypothesis action research using a constructivist approach can increase student participation and learning outcomes. Type of research is a class act. This study was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of two meetings and one final test. The subject of this studyis the fourth grade students of SDN 13 Surau Gadang, numbering 30 people, consisting of 15 male students and 15 female students. The instrument used  in this study is the observation sheet activities, and test student learning outcomes. Based on the results of a study carried visible participation and student learning outcomes using a constructivist approach in cycles I and II was increased, where the average values of participation of students in asking questions 53,33% to 74,99%, in answering questions 51,66% to 73,33%, and 36,66% in the opinion filed be 71,66%. While the average student learning outcomes, which is the cycle I gained an average of 69,83% with a completeness percentage of 63%, and the second cycle becomes 84,33 with 87% percentage of completeness. Thus, it can be concluded that the participation and learning outcomes civics fourth grade students of SDN 13 Surau Gadang Padang, rising with a constructivist approach.
